Best amp for small gigs

With Genz Benz recently shut down by Fender, the screaming deal is the G-B Contour 1-15 combo. Street price was like $750, but they are still showing up on ebay, new, with blow-out prices in the $350 range. 1-15, 300 watts, 500 watts with 4-ohm extension speaker…and they sound great! I bought one for a remote location and it is gig-worthy for small to medium clubs/bars by itself. Now have a second one, playing with at home, and marveling how good it is for the money. Reportedly Fender is still honoring the warranties…do a search on TB - lots of writing about these in the last 6-8 months. Could be perfect solution for you as you grow into bigger needs.

A decent 250W lightweight head and a 4ohm 1x12 cab.

I recommend what I have, which is EBS Reidmar 250W and an Eden EX112 4ohm. I have even used the TC Electronic BH250 with the same cab in small gigs. Very nice cab for the price.

You can also get the TC BG250 with a 15inch element combo. The weight is surprisingly light, and it sounds very nice. The price is good on this, too.

The fender rumbles get a lot of love. That or a gk or ampeg combo would do well I had an ampeg ba115 combo (if I remember the model number right) for a while that worked VERY well. I got a lot of compliments on how clean the DI was from soundmen actually. The kickback was a nice feature too.

If you find one used and want to beef it up, buy a sans amp. Or if those gigs have PA support, just buy a sans amp.
