Best backup bass for a ric??!

Okay heres the skinny,
I have a ric that i absolutely love but i also own a geddy lee jazz bass. i was in the music store the other day and i fell in love with a american precision (Candy red!) im kinda getting a feeling that the p would be better to own because the geddy lee has a more similar tone than the p bass. Basically im just asking what bass would be more beneficial to own with my ric. Not to mention i can get a pretty good deal on the p bass....

any ideas???

I couldn't turn down a nice P bass personally, but if you're looking for a live backup for your Ric, I'd recommend the Peavey T40

Well im looking for a more different sound than the ric for live and in the studio, but those t40s are really sweet though!

A p bass or a Stingray would be my recommendation...or maybe a t-bird...so many basses to cover.
The only thing that sounds like a p bass is a p bass though.

Another Ric for me. I guess I just like Rics. I have 2 - 4003s and a Sting Ray but the 2 Rics usually go to the gig with me.
