Best bargain P-bass

LOVE my Classic Vibe 60's P. But you know what? For half the price, I just got the new Affinity PJ. $154. Feels pretty good. Sounds VERY good. No kidding.

Squier CV 60's P. Unlike SX's and Affinity's it needs nothing.
IMO there are worth every cent and more.

the new affinity pj also sounds promising & gets good reviews here so far. i intend to try/buy one.

I got my '76 Ibanez P bass copy for about $275 New Zealand Dollars, about $217USD. Money VERY well spent, I believe. It's as good a sounding P as any.

Still in production: probably the CV Squier for the price.

There's a host of great used or out of production P-basses out there: Ibanez Roadstar II, Yamaha BB, USA Peavey Fury...not to mention the standard MIM Fender...and I'm sure there's many more.

they are hit or miss. some are cool, some aren't. no love lost, you pump out that many fiddles, occasionally you'll hit a dud.

Epiphone Accu bass can be had for $50 to $150. I got one and it really sounds great for the price. I made zero modifications except for strings. I use it as a practice bass when I am in a hotel. I remove the neck and place it my checked bag for flights. Very cool bass.

That's a great idea! I have one of those just sitting around. I wouldn't really worry about it traveling or taking it apart etc. i will have to do that next time I travel.

+1 for Peavey Fury, Milestones are pretty good too.
The great thing about going for a bang for your buck bass is you should be able to get your hands on lots of em to try out in person at your local music stores, pawn shops and through craig's list.
