Best barrel-type stereo jack: MEC vs Switchcraft vs Göldo

hey. my stereo barrel MEC is still holding perfectly for almost two years. it's pretty tight (maybe still even tighter than I'd prefer), but no wiggling or other problems as well.

ping me in five or ten years more and I'll tell you how it goes.

reporting back: two and a half years of a daily plugged/unplugged bass (and three different brands of plugs used over time) finally made the MEC barrel stereo jack softer: I don't need to push/pull the plug with much force anymore. despite this, it doesn't disconnect or make noise when wiggling around yet.

I've seen jacks in that very condition in my Wicks before, I guess, in this shape it can last years more. let's see.

I’m officially abandoning the experiment for now. today I’ve re-soldered the bass in question and killed the jack by overheating. I’m not restarting it from scratch either, as I managed to fit an open-frame jack in the front, since there’re many extra holes in it now.

so, currently I’m out of basses with a barrel jack, I guess.
