BEST BASS DISTORTION

What is the best bass distortion out there thats semi affordable....I currently use the EH Bass big muff pi....although its a great pedal, I want to know if there are any others out there that are better....Im looking for the ACE of Spades sound to my pedal...:help:

IMO. The sleeper of the bass distortion is the marshall guvnor 2... From a slight breakup. To full bore marshall.. Definately lemmy. Fairly affordable on the used market... And plenty of bass. So you don't loose any. Can sound a bit muted on the high end but there is a mod easily available on line.

My personal favorite true distortion is the Fuzzrocious Rat Tail. I'm personally more of an OD guy, but the Rat Tail sounded better than anything I had ever tried before (MXR Blowtorch/ Big Muffs/ etc.) As for the Ace of Spades sound you are looking for, the Jamup Pro app on Ipad has a Marshall amp head sim that nails that tone cold.

+1 totally agree on this one. the other total sleeper is the Boss HM-2, it's kicked about 10 distortion/fuzz pedals off my board and remains my go to distortion box.

I'm curious to know more about the Marshall Guv'nor 2 with a bass. Does anyone have more testimonials or sound clips to share?

I use one of these, pretty fantastic dirt tone, plus the two channels help. One for little bit o dirt and the other one for a big wall of gain.

I had a Guv'nor 2 for a while. It is definitely versatile. I always liked it, but I never LOVED it. I prefer to have the option to blend in a little bit of clean to retain clarity. Surprisingly enough I liked it better for bass than for guitar, and I'd bet the four band EQ had something to do with that.

It is a solid little stomp box. You should be able to find one on the cheap. If you do find one, give it a shot.
