Best Bass for £700

Check out sandberg basics, the music man range has a lot of options; Lakeland and G&L, being in the UK you would find European Basses at better prices I believe.

Yamaha probably is the best quality at lower price points ... they've been making instruments a really long time .. !!

the Yam 604 looks quite flexible ... has humbuckers for quiet operation , choice of Active or Passive .. ! with Passive Tone control available ... looks comfy .. nice satin finish = less fingerprints

The Sire p7 is a great bass, compare the prices on Thomman and Andertons as sometimes you can pick up a deal from either one. The Yamaha 734 is hard to beat and I have recently bought one. You can get one from BassDirect for £700 delivered and it comes with a really good Yamaha gig bag.

The Deluxe P bass is decent although I`ve never been very keen on Fender`s active circuits. As for Jackson, Schecter, they have a rubbish second hand value if you intend to move them on sometime in the future. A Sire P7 and decent Rumble amp can be had for your budget and will give you lots of good times!

I meant to add, the Sire P7`s knobs look ok in the flesh but are easily swapped out if you don`t like them.

Thanks for the info since looking I quite like the sire and would leave a better budget for an amp and would just swap the knobs out but the question os Xrai?, 9

Thanks for the advice I quite like the white sire the more I look at it and would change the nobs and would leave more money for an amp but the question now is alder or Ash? Lol

I have never seen one in the wild. Sweetwater does not have the same specs on the necks though. Same nut at 1.65. I am guessing the Ellefson might be a little skinnier front to back.

I used to dream about having a Fender bass, but when I'm starting, I don't own the bucks. So I bought Sire instead. Now I already have Fender, but the Sire still my go to bass. If you want to save some money, if I remember correctly, the alder a little bit cheaper. Mine's alder. Oh, and what's sound do you after? Might be decision maker for us. Now, I'm gassing for Sire's acoustic guitar
