a buddy of mine had a Spector Legend 4. It was a super solid bass. One bass I've always liked and thought was often over looked is the Yamaha TRB.

BC Rich is back to making basses for music stores again. I own a custom shop Eagle and I think the tone is phenomenal for metal. I would look into the Heritage or NJ lines. They are the best store-quality model. Step up and you're in the custom shop. Warlock NJ Deluxe has a neck thru design and EMG active pickups for $750 at Guitar Center.

warwick or spector for crazy drop tuning with heavy songs.........i play warwicks in e flat and sometimes D just to accomodate my singer!
Play the Warwick first. I've owned a Schecter Stiletto Elite and I currently own a Warwick Corvette standard... if you thought the neck was too chunky on the Schecter, you might just feel the same way about the Corvette.
You want to hear some beautiful sounds... a drop-tuned 'Wick through your Genz setup will be awesome. I tuned C-D-G-C-F for a long while and my Warwick was magic through the Genz gear.
