Best Bass for "intermediate" guitarist?

Hello. What would you recommend for a guitarist wanting to learn bass? I'd like to spend no more than 300-400. Thanks.

300. to 400. will buy a lot of bass IF you go used. If you want a Fender, the MIM models are fairly reliable. I think the used page on the Guitar Center website is a great resource just to see what's out there in your price range. If you don't know a lot about what to look for and what to avoid, take a friend with you to help you pick something out, there are lots of deals to be had, but also a lot of instruments to pass-on. Yep. Find something used (Maybe new?) for around $300 and then take it in for a little fret filing, truss rod adjustment, and a new set of strings. You'll likely end up with a nicer axe than most. lol
