Best bass strap?

I had huge trouble finding a strap that was comfortable. Most were too narrow and to thin. My brother, who is a guitar player, put me on to Italia leather straps. They do a 4" verson that's perfect for the bass, supremely comfortable, super quality, and reasonably priced. The straps are available in a range of colours, with a smooth outside and a suede inside. My bass feels almost weightless now! http://italiastraps.com/

I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I like Franklin straps. I don't like gimmicky looks, and I like wide straps that don't slip around. They've got a bunch of fit the bill, and they're a lot less expensive than pretty much anything other than the ones that look and feel cheap.

I picked up a Franklin strap a couple of weeks ago and so far, I find it very comfortable. I lasted through a 4 hour band practice with very little discomfort.

I have a 3 1/2" Levy's strap on order which should arrive this week that I'm looking forward to trying. Same kind of low key, standard leather strap that I seem to prefer.

I'm planning to pick up one of these. The only negative I've heard about these is that they run a little long, and I'm not one to wear my bass slung low. I suppose I could have it shortened, if it's as comfortable I've heard.

Any thoughts on this one?

I got the Neotech Mega Bass Strap about a month ago & absolutely love it! It has just about 10" of adjustment. I'm 6'2 & have my bass just above my waist & there is still plenty of adjustment to go either way.
Being that it's neoprene, it's soft, got some give & I find it quite comfortable.

+2

I've had nothing but these NeoTech straps now for 3-4 years, and they are fantastic, IMHO. I have a bass that weighs ~12 pounds and these work great with that. I also have never had to replace one. None show any real sign of wear and look pretty much the same as the day I got them.

I had a Comfort Strapp, but the padding kinda ended towards the front of my shoulder, so I didn't quite get much support there. It's a great strap if it fits you.

Hands down best IMO, nothing comes close .... There are cheaper like the Italia that keeps coming up, but you get what you pay for.

Ive also been looking for a strap because for basically all my playing life i've been using a strap that i made longer with a bit of rope. It always looked a bit ghetto (or punk depending...) and i'm kinda sick ot it. I looked at the sites that were linked... Comfort Strapp's longest strap is 61". I measured mine (well including the bit of rope), 64". The lowest part of my bass hangs at about my knee, i'm 5'11" which is normal height. Surely i can't be the only person that wants a 64"+ strap..my question is...where can i find those?

I've got 3 of these, and have given a 4th as a gift.

If you're not a real big guy, I still think the Pro Comfort Strapps are about the most comfortable. But I'm 6', 250, and I find myself right between the "Long" and the "Extra Long" in the Comfort Strapps (as far as length preference). So lately, I've been using the Mono Betty "Long". I have 3 of them now, and really like them. I don't think they're QUITE as comfortable as the Comfort Strapp, but they're pretty darn close.
