Best Bass

What is considered the best bass by a tradition ? I know it's the one in your hands but I mean , which is considered the Elite.
Like Taylor , Gibson for Guitars, What about the Bass ? Prices are all over and might not be the ultimate factor.

Thanks in advance .

There are numerous discussions of "best bass" here on Talkbass.

The answer comes in two stages:

1) "Best" for what? The answer depends to great degree on variables defining "for what," including such things as music style you play, long/short/mid scale, solid body, hollow body or acoustic/electric.
2) Regardless of the above, the final answer is (and will always be) "what you like best."

I recommend searching for conversations about this and learning from the views expressed.

According to many threads here at TB:
It would have 5 strings
It would be PJ
It would have flats
It would have tort or anodized pickguard
It would have 2-band/3-band active, plus passive
It would have a switch instead of a sweep pot or two volumes
It would weigh under 7 lbs.
It would have a narrow, but chunky neck
It would have lightweight tuners
It would have an aftermarket bridge that worked, and sounded just like the original
It would have straplocks and a wide strap
It would play "like butter"
It would have a maple fingerboard, bound, with blocks

It doesn't really exist, but you can't please anyone around here sometimes!

Well, traditionally, the P bass has an incredible track history.
And the MusicMan Sting Ray has been considered right up there.
But that's like asking Rolls Royce Silver Wraith or Ferrari Berlinetta, which one's best.
For me, the answer is easy.
I've ried out between 50 and 60 basses a year over the past few years.
Since I found this, I might've tried half a dozen.
It's the best for what I need, anyway, and that's all that matters.

Everyone is in complete agreement that Rickenbacker makes the best basses. No one has anything bad to say about Rickenbacker basses at all. Especially the bridges, which are so perfect that they are not found on any other basses. It is easier to get people to agree that Rickenbacker basses are great than to get people to agree that water is wet. Take it to the bank.
