Long time bassplayer for a band called Rush. They're from Canada and a lot of people like him. :)

Thanks, I know who he is, I even like his work, i think he is one of the greatest bassists. I guess Im a bit disheartened by the generic preference of Tber's via this poll, a community full of bassists I would think would be a bit more balanced when it came down to game like this. I myself am just having fun, Im not trying to be pissy or anything, Im just sad that there is less appreciation for the greats in a community like this. Geddy is good, but the best, Im surprised Jamerson, Jaco, Vic, or Stanley aren't at the top. And wheres Carter, Mingus, Brown, Holland, Reid, Berlin? Oh well, I guess I'll always have Hoppus, Trujilo, and Dirnt to vote for.

It's all good fun I suppose, it does reflect the lack of exposure younger kids are to those who really smoke on bass.

I'm three years younger than you, and I've listened to or at least heard most of the bassists you named in your post, and sure, they're good players, but I still prefer Justin Chancellor, Jesse F. Keeler, Troy Sanders and John Paul Jones. These players do really smoke on bass and I don't get why the people you named are better in any way. It's a matter of personal preference and I don't care if Mike Dirnt is rated higher than any one. If that's the case, good for him, and I think and hope that the players that voted for him has gotten alot of joy and learned much from listening to him. Good for them.

My point being, it's not a matter of lack of exposure, it's a matter of personal preference.
