Best bedroom amp?

To name a few, check out the hartke a series, the acoustic b series, one of the line 6 low down amps, and the ibanez swx series. those amps would make great bedroom amps. I've recently owned a hartke a100 and it sounds awesome.

+1. The Hartke A100 has a headphone out. It can also get VERY LOUD for small gigs -- plus it's got a Direct out if you're in a bigger room. Lotsa tone, too. Because tone is what we care most about here on TB.

It's no Genz Benz (my next amp!), but it gives you a lot for the money. Try to find one used.

OP, I'm looking for the exact same thing.

I've had my eye on the Orange Crush 35B for a while, but I recently took a look at the Ampeg BA115HP.


There is a huge difference in price, but for obvious reasons, the Ampeg is 220W, to everyone else: Is that a little over-kill for a practice amp? I'd hope to go gigging with it in the near future.

First amp i ever bought, just blew away everything in the store for a lot less money.

A late 60's Traynor BASS MATE. If you're lucky enough to find one. Big honking Jensen transformer, 15" speaker and a couple of tubes, power & preamp for that great 'I can play anything' type of sound. ....... also they have the little green, honeycomb cut glass light cover that would reflect a nice soft glow all around you bedroom.
Plus it had an open back and made for a great stash.

Only one bedroom amp I would consider, and the first product from this company I have liked. Line6 Studio 110. Five bass amp models, synth bass, compressor, and a surprisingly loud 75 watts into a single 10 inch speaker.

Pre out, xlr out, both with cabinet simulation. Headphone out, mp3 in.

Good for bedroom, small gig, medium to large gig with out to PA. Handles low B without farting out, at high volume level.

All in a 1 foot square package. This is the 3rd line 6 product I have owned, but the first that I can say I will keep. It is the only amp I own, and will buy extra power and cabs for larger gigs. The amp models are very good, and will work as a monitor on stage at ear level, as floor coupling does not seem to be important.

Good sound, good power, good price (299.99 new)

I think the Acoustic B20 is a great practice amp for the money, it has nice fat tone and is louder than it should be for only 20 watts. Plus, it has a 12 in it which sounds alot better to my ear than the single 10 in most practice amps.

If you have the dough, a Genz Shuttle 3x8T is the ticket. Weighs nothing and takes no space, sounds great, full-featured and the head slips off and is powerful enough to gig with if you feed it through a larger cab.

The Vox AC30 amplug sounds really good for guitar or bass IMO. Just make sure you have some decent headphones(I use $30 Sony, good enough) and make sure you get the AC30; they have a couple of other amplug models that are not nearly as good

I'd say get your PC in the mix also.
Add some modeling software and your set.
Play along with songs in a virtual big room.
Try out different amps virtually so you know what large amp to get when the time comes.
Although I'm not keen on other line-6 hardware their pod studio ux series does a great job of this.

The Line 6 is a good choice, as is the similar Roland Cube 30. For a bit more cash, Roland's Cube 100 would be even better. It's my home practice amp, that can cover rehearsals and small gigs too.

That's why I bought it. I wanted a combo amp loud enough for small gigs. and the hartke a100 delivers what I needed. the 7 band graphic-eq is pretty flexible. you can dial any sound you desire. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Ampeg BA112 is a great sounding little amp, and can be had brand new for under $300. I think it's their best sounding "BA" series amp, quite a nice round tone for a small 12" solid state combo.
