Best cable for EMG Set

Hey wise ones:

I just upgraded to the active EMG set for for my J Bass. Seems as though I need a stereo cable now. Any suggestions? I was using a Monster Cable, and lovin' it, but the new jack isn't. I don't have an amp with special inputs for an active bass, either. Did I screw myself?

Uh... no you don't.

A regular cable is fine. Believe me, I've owned EMG pickups.

The jack is stereo because of how the EMGs turn on and off. Pull out the instrument cable, and battery power to them is cut. leave the cable in, and they'll drain like there's no tomorrow. That extra ring on the jack is just for triggering the power like an on/off switch - nothing more!

It's as simple as that.

As for your amp... most of the time, you don't need a special output. However, if your signal distorts, try this:

- Lower the pickups
- Turn down the volume on your bass

Mmmm

So maybe there's a problem with the jack?
When I plug the cable in all the way it cuts out the signal, and I have to pull it out about a 1/4" to get it to work.

Anhy thoughts?

Sounds like the jack might be wired wrong. Try switching the wires going to the tip and ring connections. I think that should fix it.

Someone correct me if I've got it mixed up.
