Best chair for metal?

My vote is the average folding chair.

Last Friday I broke my fibula and dislocated my ankle while playing hockey.

Not one who likes cancelling gigs, I soldiered on and played a gig on Sunday. The next day, I sort of regretted that decision, but it was a fun gig, and it got my mind off of the situation for a while.

Anyone else have a similar story? What are your broken bone gig stories?

Twenty years ago I broke a bone in my right hand, a classic "boxer's fracture". Broke it at 1 PM, ER at 4 PM, played a 2 hour gig on acoustic 12 string guitar at 6 pm. Good thing I'm a thumb-picker. Also a good thing my wife didnt know what I was up to.

@shwabilly wishing you a speedy recovery. I have played too many gigs when injured, same with old sports injuries. My worst story was when playing an upstairs venue, with deadly stairs Sefcik Hall, I was the low man carrying up the B3 organ when the other person stumbled on a step and the whole weight fell on me, taking me and the organ to the bottom. Luckily the organ was fine but I couldn't move my right arm and it hurt to breathe. I played the gig and the rest of the band had to move the gear the rest of the way in and out. The next day I was still hurting bad so went to the ER and discovered that I had 3 broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

Stories about happenings and mishaps on those Sefcik Hall stairs are a thing of local lore and legend.

I have been relegated to playing sitting down after many years using a folding piano bench I broke down and ordered a pair of folding dining room chairs,

30 years ago our guitarist accidentally drilled all the way through his hand and played a gig that night standing up. 4 years ago I broke my 3rd finger on my fretting hand and played all my gigs with duct tape and popsicle sticks for a month.
That being said, Imma need a stool soon because I'm old

I played in a wheelchair for a while, after I broke my neck and I couldn’t stand and play bass at the same time. We were a costume & gimmick band so it kinda fit the image, and we rolled with the idea.

I could walk well enough that strangers who saw me after a show would sometimes mumble about me faking.

3 knee surgeries. (Good ol high school sports). Each time we were busy. Guys always had a stool on stage for me to use. That lasted about a half song. I stood with little or no weight on that leg. Ice got me through. I also ran a 3.5" drywall screw through my left hand on a Wednesday. Played Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Stiff more than sore. Little slow but managed.

Glad you're on the mend. If you're going to need to sit for an extended period, I prefer a good drum throne with a back rest.

aww, i hope you have an easy recovery! i think you make it look cool on the folding chair though. kinda makes it look like you're just vibing and jamming

oh my goodness, i couldn't imagine! i didn't play my bass for over a month after a relatively minor fracture this may i broke my left middle finger
