Truss adjustments can take several days, even weeks, to settle in. If you were adjusting your truss every day, it was likely contributing more to your problems setting action than the weather.

A friend of mine did get to engineer for VW once, and check out one of his basses. That's my one-step-removed VW cred. Indeed he reports the bass had "insanely low" action.
I think the main question to the OP is whether or not you'd want 24 frets. Personally I'd say yes, look for 24-frets. I love my 20-fret P/J, but the lack of upper range does frustrate me on occasion, or force a key change to be able to complete a phrase. As for make/model, I don't have a recommendation there. Try a few.
Then just set it up as low as you like it to be. I can get harmonics, and double-thumb, just fine on a workingman's bass.

It's nonsense because you are literally the only person I have ever heard make such a claim about the effect of New England weather on guitars.

I'm not sure what rules of rhetoric you are basing your responses on, but paraphrasing someone's retort into a broader concept does not make it any less valid.
You said that the weather in Boston caused the neck on your boutique instrument to require daily adjustments and some people responded that is nonsensical.
It might be more helpful to provide further evidence to enhance the validity of your claim instead of attacking the broader concept of our discussion.
Well that's it, I'm done... you evidently didn't read all my posts or you are just trolling to turn this into a religion war. I don't think TB is a legal court where anybody should "provide further evidence to enhance the validity of your claim"... we are just talking about bass.
I play bass professionally from 20+ years and I shared my experience in the interest of the OP about his idea of choosing a cheap bass for doing an expensive mod.
With all due respect I honestly don't give a **** if you agree with me or not... hence I don't really have anything to prove you.

Maybe you have a limited experience with some old school vintage basses, or some modern low quality instruments... or you may have been unlucky or not careful. Modern, good quality dual action truss-rod basses - what I have - usually respond almost immediately to adjustments.

Anyone who knows Eric from Eric's Guitars at Sound City in Van Nuys knows him as a most mellow dude.
But I once saw him become surprisingly near-strident when I asked about "turning a truss rod a tweak at a time over days."
He insisted he was of the unqualified belief that a truss could be set once, and with authority. Of course, as a guy in the biz of getting
them on and off the bench, he has a vested interested in maintaining that belief. But in any case his stance was emphatic and had an edge that suggested it would not entertain the slightest apostasy.

Maybe a Warwick rockbass fortress?
Here's a video with one. They seem to be Andy Irvines favorite rockbasses and he's pretty familiar with the brand having worked for them for a while.
This is a video of his modded with EMGs although in this video he has flats on the bass.
