Best Church Bass

Hey guys, I am a church bassist, and I am on the quest for the best "Church suited bass" Some guys use P basses, others Carvin, others Ibanez. I got a Ibanez SRX, and I am unsure as to how that bass will sit in the mix on Sunday morning.
Whats your opinions?

It's not the bass, it's the acoustics in your church, how you have your amp set, what kind of instruments you're playing with..etc. You can use any bass you feel comfortable with.

There isn't a "perfect" church bass. Just avoid naked ladies or devil stuff, and you'll be okay. I've played in church everything from a Fender P and Jazz, to Carvin, to my current Marco custom. I'm one of three bassists at my church, one of plays a EB Bongo and the other plays a Schecter.

The only thing I can say is a 5er helps for a lot of modern church music.

Or a Warwick Vampire NT along with a Warwick Bootsy Collins signature...

A Jazz should have a nicer tone to fit with church. If its about looks the jazz and the p-bass would do.

my go to bass for church has always been a lakland 55-02. Great low-B, can go from Jazz, to Precision, to MM. Very flexible!!!

Reinforcing the fact that any good bass would be the ideal 'church bass'. If it sounds good with the tunes, then you're set. Probably don't want to scare them off with a fretless, but I'm sure someone will chime in and say the contrary.

Anything with even response from low to high. I prefer a Lakland fiver, but I know of others who play church gigs with Tobias and Ken Smith fivers. Lots of the never CC stuff seems to be in keys that benefit from a low Eb, D or C.

I use a G&L Tribute L2500 or a TBC AP500M. Both work just fine. Just got a SX jazz fretless and I think it would work (strung BEAD) if I were better with it.

I have to agree that a 5 string - while not necessary - is very handy to have at church - at least for me. As far as brands, really almost any solid bass will work. I have a Yamaha I've used for a long time with great results.
