Best dead rounds

For all dead/worn/broken in roundwound enthusiasts: if you're leaving a set of rounds on a bass forever, or until one breaks, what's your string of choice? Please share thoughts/experiences/live sound quality of any rounds you've had on a bass for a year + and are happy with.

For me it's DR Sunbeams. There is a period of time, say between a month of regular use (for me that's two rehearsals a week plus one gig a month) and six months where they have a great flat-like tone to them. Eventually they die the true death, but there is definitely a sweet period after they break in completely. At this point I'm using DR Legends flats, but if I leave my current band at some point I'll go back to Sunbeams.

That's what I'm using now. Not bad but TBH Fodera stainless are the best I've tried, new or broken in they sound awesome, no zing, no clank, no dullness...

Old thread, but I've now has a set of XLs on one of my jazz basses for about 4 years and they sound fantastic. Lots of "mmmmm" with the tone turned down a bit and on front pickup only, and growly bite if tone full up.
