Best fingerstyle bassists?

For content, I'll go with Jamerson or Jack Bruce. Bruce plays with one finger, doing figure eights across the strings.
For sheer technique, I have to go with Billy Sheehan. I went to one of his clinics. Everything he does has very minimal movement of the hand and fingers. He's got all eight fingers in synch.
Second nod has to go with Mars Cowling from Pat Travers.

Check out these guys

Geezer Butler - Black Sabbath
Aston Familyman Barrett - Bob Marley & The Wailers

Tony Levin - King Crimson,Peter Gabriel

Hope this can help you a little bit:D

You want finger style...check out this cat from Germany, his name is Gerald Reese, ...go to SLAPRING.COM..then click on english, then click on sound&video, then click on funky fingers...enjoy the show...this cat is fast...maybe not as fast as victor wooten, but i like his style..this funk fusion stuff sure is sweet!

the list can go on and on, but alot of names have already been given. ill contribute a nomination for Tom Kennedy though. he's amazingly fast and clean and tasteful. he holds down the low end in the Dave Weckl Band. killer player.
