Best fingerstyle player?

Geddy is great, I really love listening to is playing or watch him play. But his playing is so unique and brutal..... :) In many ways I´m a bit more impressed by somebody like Nathan East which has this very smooth style, same goes for Lee Sklar. But, yes Geddy is my hero considering playing fingers.

Hm, I always thought he was a pick player. Always sounded like one to me, but I never really payed attention. The guy's just a monster, regardless. But that's stating the obvious.

I was getting worried that no one had said Geddy!
Me too. Geddy's great. I'm not too sure I'd consider him a virtuoso, but he's in the top 5 rock bassists for sure. And not to be stereotypical, but Flea's fingerstyle also deserves a mention in the rock category. Funny he's praised for his pretty good slapping, but not his outstanding fingertyle. I've been trying for months just to get the Naked in the Rain solo down.

Also, I didn't know Stanley Clarke was too big on the electric. I always see the guy playing double (which he does VERY well may I add), never really saw him play electric before. I take it he's just as good?

Good grief, have we come this far in time that Stanley Clarkes contribution to Electric bass is being negated by modern reputation and work......the man was one of the leaders of solo electric bass, from composition, technique, and equipment.
