Best fingerstyle player?

Who in your opinion is the best raw fingerstyle player? No flashy slapping, no tapping, no multi finger picking, I just mean traditional two finger. I would have to say Jaco, even if it's a little cliche. Man... those little twiddling lines he does are just amazing. That kind of speed is just ridiculous. And that's not even the best thing about him.

Also, I prefer this in the Technique section since we're discussing their technique :)

That wouldn't make a very funny joke, now would it? ;):spit:
I expected this thread to be much funnier, quite honestly.

I don't know...so many bassists out there these days can play really fast that I've given up trying to find out who's the fastest. In the end, the music they make is way more important than mere speed, so that's what I go by.

Pattitucci, Willis, Gwizadala, Feraud - all guys who use mainly 2 fingers and are all amazing.

Definitely would agree with all of the above. Gwizdala has the most beautiful lyrical style paired with killer chops and a great personality! A note for Pattitucci, his speed doesn't just apply to his electric playing either ... he can really go on upright too.
