Ibanez are the BEST CHEAP basses out there.
Lots of people in here will say SX and Squier Vintage Modifieds, and I won't disagree since I don't have much experience in those areas...but I'd probably need a pretty long pole to touch those things myself.

Yea, I am leaning towards the Spector - like new and all that! Just a 4-string. For 5-strings though, I like a neck like the Ibanez BTB - string spacing for me has to be spread out.

A huge +1 to this, I got a '90's MIA Peavey Millenium off the classifieds here about two months ago for under $300 (including HSC!!) The thing absolutely kills, it plays and sounds like it should have cost about 7 bills more than it actually did![]()
I agree. I believe Ibanez guitars and acoustics are the best you can get for the price you pay. However once I picked up a violin bass, I was hooked. The short scale and the small body and sound was exactly what I was looking for. I will probably never own anything but a violin.
It makes shopping for one a lot of fun!
