Best mic for a 410 cab?

I wouldn't worry about the speaker configuration unless it was a 3 way cab or something different that was a pain to mic.

Do you have a budget in mind?
How about it's intended use?

I like the EV RE20 and a Heil PR40. Many use an SM57/58 in conjunction with a DI, others use bass drum mics. It all depends on what you want from a mic

I' m considering a SM57 instrument mic.
They're good as long as you have a DI supplying lows with it, but they're too light on lows to be your only source for bass as far as I'm concerned. AKG P2 is same price as a 57 and is better for bass, although you can use a 57 for other things and it's a really good mic to have, too.

I tried 57's and yes lack on low end. Tried audix and they work on kicks drums better than a bass cab cause of the cut on the mids(personal taste I like mids growly stuff). I do have a certain attention for the beta52A but am definitely waiting to get a audio technica ATM25.

Lack of bottom can be mic placement. Move the mic far enough back to get the port and cone, or use to two mics, one for the port, one for the cone. If the 4x10 has a tweeter, add another mic. Move the cone mic around to different positions, between the dust cap and the cone edge there is a wide variation in frequency spectrum. Singers don't go as low and loud as a bass, a vocal mic can get overdriven at bass frequencies say 100hz and lower.

I find interesting the Senheiser 421 by his response. It has a filter of 5 positions, and it gives too much posibilities. It has a hard diafragma, and works well at hard volume speakers, even in live situations.

I like too the Sure sm 57. It´s a bright response that goes well for the 10 inches speakers.

You can use the AKG 112 too, or a Beyer Dynamic (I don´t remember exactly if was the M80).
