Best is a matter of opinion, but the GK MB Fusion series fits the bill.

G-K MB Fusion 800, MB Fusion 500, G-K Fusion 550. All three models have a full six stage (3 tube) preamp.

Hartke LH500. I like it better than the LH1000 personally. It really depends what sound you are looking for. I didn't like the GK Fusion 500 at all.

There is no doubt that the MB Fusion is a high quality amp. Overall the GK sound wasn't for me.

Mesa M6 carbine. That is one of the sickest sounding amps around. The voicing knob makes them very versatile. You might want to check out the M9 actually, it has a graphic eq which is helpful on these if you like alot of mids.

Played a mb 800 thru an Aquilar 410 at sweetwater last week, the show room is small and it was full of guitarists playing way too loud trying to get over each other, cranked it up about 1/3. And was able to hear ,and feel myself. I had just picked up a new Fender Hot Rod Jazz . Sweetness.....
Want to play thru a fusion 550, and a svt3 pro....owned a 7 pro and has nothing but problems.
Want an more modern non vintage tone

The GK MB Fusion amps (500, 800) are great. I have the MB Fusion 500 and swear by it. Note I said not at it.

The M9 and M6 are great, even sick amps—my favorites. I get most of that with a GK mb800. No tube pre! A VT Bass pedal is nice with it. fEARful takes the blanket off of all that gear.

I love the MB800, I just sold mine off though. If I did it over again I wished I had gone with the Fusion instead. The MB's a powerful amp but I can see why some people don't like the tone.
