Try RedOne, Quebec online retailer, they have a good string selection.
RedOne Music | Canada's finest Online Music Store
I heard that Archambault closed down but I could be wrong.Any reputable store... Steve's, Long & McQuade, Archambeault, Cosmo, there are many!
Strings By Mail are great! I’ve bought from them twice and it was easy and shipping was reasonable.None of them have a decent selection in stock at any given time. Depending on how our Canadian Monopoly money is faring on international currency markets, buying in the US or the UK is not much more expensive and you do have some choices.
I have used these and have been completely satisfied with service and pricing:
- Strings By Mail and Strings & Beyond in the US
- Strings Direct in the UK.
Newtone Strings in the UK make and sell custom sets for not much more than a premium off the shelf string set. I use them pretty much exclusively now, however note that they do not make a flatwound.
Pretty sure Archambeault closed recentlyI heard that Archambault closed down but I could be wrong.
RedOne is great! I’ve bought many things from them over the years. And Cosmo Music generally has a much better selection of strings than L&M does, in my experience.
There’s ProSpec Strings in QC as well. Their website kinda sucks but they have an active Reverb store and they often have NOS strings that you can’t find anymore.
Pretty soon it’s just gonna be Tim Hortons, condominiums and L&Ms from sea to shining sea.Pretty sure Archambeault closed recently
Thanks.
Specifically looking for flatwounds and tapewounds.
Clubbass used to have several choices, but there isn’t much left out nowadays.[/QUOTE
Salut Francois,
Essaie Prospecstrings.com from Montreal (off the 40 near St Leonard)
Try the above website, I buy all my strings there, and parts too.
