Best online canadian retailer?

I'm looking for the best online bass guitar strings retailer in Canada.

Looking forward to seeing if there are any responses. There was a person here a few years ago saying he was bringing an online shop into Quebec but I don't recall the name. Sorry! If I spot it, I'll advise. Steve's Music is based out of Montreal so that would be my plan b.

I'm guessing that for flats and tapes you don't really want to buy in bulk. If you do then I'd consider a place like Fret Nation (even with it being in the U.S. it ends up being cheaper than buying in local shops).

Agreed. Very competitive pricing—just looking at tapewound prices the other day—and I’ve found them quick to respond and ship.

I stumbled upon this site yesterday, Bass North,which I’d never heard of before. Looks interesting. Must be pretty new. St. Thomas is only a short drive away from where I live. Anyways, they have Sadowsky, Warwick, SIT, Spector, and Dingwall strings listed on their site now. Haven’t really looked at the prices yet.

I may be missing something here about RedOne, but they have Labella Low tension flats for $110, Long and Mcquade $60.....

I'm in Ontario and I use RedOne in Laval for a bunch of stuff. They have sales and discounts all the time.
Otherwise, I use Long and McQuade or Cosmo Music.

RedOne is great! I’ve bought many things from them over the years. And Cosmo Music generally has a much better selection of strings than L&M does, in my experience.

There’s ProSpec Strings in QC as well. Their website kinda sucks but they have an active Reverb store and they often have NOS strings that you can’t find anymore.

None of them have a decent selection in stock at any given time. Depending on how our Canadian Monopoly money is faring on international currency markets, buying in the US or the UK is not much more expensive and you do have some choices.

- Strings Direct in the UK.

Newtone Strings in the UK make and sell custom sets for not much more than a premium off the shelf string set. I use them pretty much exclusively now, however note that they do not make a flatwound.

Strings By Mail are great! I’ve bought from them twice and it was easy and shipping was reasonable.

Newtone though, that is NOT a place for someone to buy strings from if they don’t know absolutely everything about their needs. I bought from them and had no clue what I was doing - ordered something that (in retrospect) didn’t make any sense at all and I could t easily find any way to communicate with the folks there, so I ended up with some super wonky strings that cost a lot but we’re completely useless. I’m not saying Newtone is bad by any means - I’m only saying that it’s is absolutely not a place for dummies like me lol

GimmeSomeStrings has the best prices on Thomastik strings that I’ve found—and very helpful. I agree that Amazon.ca at times will have lowest prices for some strings, but it’s hit or miss depending on what you’re looking for. JustStrings has free shipping to Canada once in a while.

Essaie Prospecstrings.com from Montreal (off the 40 near St Leonard)

Try the above website, I buy all my strings there, and parts too.
He can order anything.
He isnt cheaper but service is A1
I know the owner Wayne. He has a store on Reverb too
