Best pick-up Distances from neck and bridge?

that's a lot of magnet pull!

also, three fat pickups like that means they'll be close to each other, which both minimizes the difference between one and the next, and allows the magnetic field of one to affect the tone of the next one.

i recommend going with 2 at most, and even then, the "neck" one might not sound so good (being designed for the "almost bridge" spot.)
 
I am about to route my bass for a x2nb single humbucker. was planning to leave a distance the same as the pickup width from the bridge, I still have no idea what the placement would be for maximum output and clarity. any help is greatly appreciated
