best practice-at-home amp. soundwise

hello folks,

I'm looking for a small combo (or maybe even just a head) for practicing at home. I dont need much volume but instead I'm looking for rich, as-close-to-a-full-grown-stack-sound as possible. headphones-out is a must.

I just saw the Markbass Micromark and Micromark 801, and size-wise they're awesome. but does the sound come even close to that of a... say F1 + 121H stack?
It doesnt have to be markbass, so whatever combo you know, tell me bout it

and since I'm still at university, please not too pricey

I own a Markbass F1, but it doesnt have a headphones output, it tried to connect headphones to the cab-outs (Y-to-stereo -> female-female-adapter -> headphones) but there's a really loud rustling noise, regardless of the settings of the amp. if someone knows how to fix that, that'd be even cooler

It'll come down to personal preference, but an Ampeg BA112 would be my choice.

I know this isn't what you asked for necessarily but a great device for practice is a korg bass pandora px5d. It is a small device like a pack of cards. You get lots of sounds, metronome, drum patterns, and on and on. Bad thing is you could not gig with it. They are pretty cheap at 150-170 bucks. Check it out.

gigging-ability is not necessary, for that I'll use the F1. this is just for practice at home, not too loud or with headphones.

RickenBoogie, what about the BA108/110?

i never played ampeg, they have a very characteristic tone, dont they?

I use a Mesa Walkabout Scout as a home practice, band practice, and small gig amp. It's pretty awesome.

I have an Ampeg B50R. It's now discontinued but if you find one it's a great choice. If not I second the BA112.

i never played ampeg, they have a very characteristic tone, dont they?

As does your MarkBass.

Personally, I use a Zoom B3 and headphones with a USB into my computer. Then I drop the B3 in the pocket of my gig bag and take the sounds to my rig for rehearsals.

markbass minimark. I bought one used at gc a year ago and it blows any small practice amp away in terms of sound that I have tried. It has a line in for mp3 for practice and headphones and can handle an extension speaker.

The Ba108 and BA110 are also good, but the BA112 has more power, and a bigger spkr, so better tone. If you'll ONLY use headphones, the pandora is a better option, as well as the smaller Ampeg combo's. Also, +1 to the B50R. Great sounding little box.

I've got an Ashdown Peferct Ten for @home practicing and absolutely hate the thing. I mean it get's the job done but it sounds like poopoo.

I have a Pignose G40V that I use for Guitar and I've been toying with the idea of picking up an Avatar SB112 to pair up with it for bass amp. Switching out will be a pain but the idea of having a Tube amp to practice with appeals to me.

The other amp I might consider if I had the money is one of them Phil Jones Bass ****cases.

I'd like to test a pjb someday, but right now: too freaking expensive.

Roland Cube 20XL Bass or Cube 100 Bass? They got good ratings and having different amp models aint that bad either...

does anyone have experience with the EBS classic session 60?
