Best practice setup/apps for the I-Pad???

A slow-downer is essential, IMO. I use an app called Tempo SlowMo. It also lets you EQ out different frequencies to help isolate bass lines and loop parts of tracks. The best part is that it can work directly with songs and playlists you already have in Itunes, so you don’t have to import songs like you do with Amazing, for instance. It has some flaws, but the pros outweigh the cons.

Thank you @JakobT ! I will try that. I have looked at JamUp that has speed control but haven't played with it yet. Your comments are, as always, much appreciated :thumbsup:.

Well, @JakobT, I believe in giving credit where credit is due...after your recommendation for a slow-downer, I checked out Anytunes, since they had a good tutorial for this GOF to understand!

I played with it yesterday and have to say that I learned more than I have in several weeks. Many years have gone by since the old days of "lifting and dropping the turntable arm" ;).

Thanks again, I owe you more than "one" :).

Thank you for those kind words. Glad to have been of help. :)

I use Anytune for learning new songs and like it - the ui is a bit confusing and busy. I'm going to try Transcribe+. Actually just put it on my phone today... Both offer speed reduction and pitch up or down, plus playback with music content on your device. I run my phone into channel two on a little mixer, and my bass into the other channel. Headphones plugged into the main outs on the mixer and practice silently (my family thanks me for that lol.... I think iReal Pro might be next - as I like the backing tracks option in there.

I've found this.
Apple now sells a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle as iPad Pro drops headphone jack
The kind people at the local Apple store assure me that this will hold audio out from the iPad Pro 2018. How one is to get audio in, and/or interact with current apps is still not something I'm sure of.

I sent an info request to Apogee regarding this, their Anytune app and their Jam+ device through the new iPad Pro. I will post a response from them if/when I get one. If it does work, it would be a $159.00 cost increase (street value) on the already expensive iPad Pro, just for a headphone jack!

Received this response from Apogee:

"We have not tested on that particular app. As long as it supports the iOS CoreAudio implementation properly, it should work. You may want to contact the makers of that app to confirm it'll work with 3rd party interfaces like the Jam Plus.

Regards,
Apogee Support Department".

I just emailed Anytune and will report back. If anyone else has the same question with a different interface, you should probably ask them.

I use Anytune Pro+ with my iPad. My iPad has the mini headphone jack. I was using an Apogee Jam with Sennheiser headphones. It wouldn’t take much input from my bass before the Apogee would start to distort. Not being very happy with that setup I purchased some Sony Bluetooth headphones that don’t cover up my whole ear. Now I use the headphones for the music and just play through my amp for the bass sound. It works real well.

Really like the Anytune app. Pitch shifts, looping, tempo changes...it does it all for me.

Thanks for the input. I have the same setup as you except for the Sennheiser headphones. In my case, I have Rocuso Earbuds:

https://www.amazon.com/d/Headphones...hones+with+microphone&refinements=p_89:ROCUSO

These are inexpensive ($25.00) earbuds and they work well for me.

Here is the kicker, I have profound hearing loss and even with a $200 device to connect to my ($4,000.00) hearing aids, I was getting distortion. With just the iPad, Rocuso Earbuds and Apogee Jam, properly adjusted, I do not get any distortion. In fact, I have to turn down the volume. I can't imagine anyone with normal hearing being able to stand the distortion-free volume that I find comfortable.

I don't know if it's just a point of finding the right volume settings on these components or a "sensitivity" (ohms thing). Until I do, the only thing I can say is...YMMV;).
