Best Punk Bassist

Rob Wright aka Mr. Wrong from NOMEANSNO. Any of you uninformed snobs bashing punk bass players had better give this band a listen before they pass such a sweeping judgement as calling all punk musicians untalented. And I'm not talking about the corporate friendly, MTV/MuchMusic brand of punk either cuz that's rilly making me hate the whole so-called 'punk' genre.

Glen Matlock from the "Sex Pistols" had cool lines. They kicked him out of the band because they found "Beatle" records in his collection.

The Bass player from the late 70's "Siouxse and the Banshees" (don't recall his/her name) was very good. Along with drummer "Budgie", they were a terrific, yet creative/original rythym section.

There are so many others.

I think best is always a matter of opinion, but what the hell do i know?

Here are my favs: Mike Watt from Minutemen, Ali McMordie from Stiff Little Fingers, Bruce Foxton from The Jam, Tony Lombardo from the Descendants, Dave Blood from Dead Milkmen... Paul Simonen from the Clash..

In the case of Matt Freeman, fast doesnt always equate to good in my humble opinion. His best work is behind him in the Op Ivy days... Rancid sucks now anyways. The guy from Frenzal Rhomb is good too. Lex Feltham is his name I think? I dunno much about the new music some people call punk, but thats ok.

I mean what is percieved as the 'punk' genre because I feel it's used more as a buzzword by marketing people than actually meaning anything at all. I don't particularly dislike many of today's pop bands playing what some would call 'punk' but it certainly doesn't do anything for me like what I consider 'the real stuff' does. The branch of pop music labeled 'punk' by whoever decides these things is not the music I grew up listening to and nowhere near what I play and/or produce. I wouldn't call any one band punk because the term just doesn't work anymore but it's all got a certain kick in one way or another that I connect with.

punk=music. If you liked it you could care less about whats on tv. Next you'll be complaining about some "pozer" whos egotistical mohawk is bigger then yours. Personally, I love mike Watt, Matt Freeman, Klaus Floride, Robert Trujillo, and the guy from the dead milkmen whoms name I can't seem to think of.
