I'm really not getting what the question is about. There are many responses incongruent to an Irish pub. Are you asking how to spend a pile of cash to get a smaller rig that does same or better job than what you have now? That's what it amounts to.

Best rig for no PA support??

I just handed back a second hand pf500 and two cabs after a trial to see if I would purchase but my pal was asking for a lot of money for second hand so I'm thinking of buying the head and one cab new and buying the second a few weeks down the line

At some point i realized there is a different reaction to a guitard and a bass player when confronted with their output volume. If a fellow musician walks up to the stage and tells the guitard that his guitar is too loud, the reply will always be: "In rehearsal I have my master set to 7 and i already am down to 5". If the bass player is told that the bass is too loud he will most likely go to his rig and turn down a bit.
That said, i use to bring both 2x12 cabs. If the venue is small, i set up one and see if two would be total overkill - if so, i leave one in the car. I prefer the sound of a big rig that is turned down a bit to the sound of a stressed out small rig.

I play keys in one band. Old bassist had a markbass 2x10 combo, new bassist has a 2x10 fender rumble combo.
Both of these can get plenty loud. If they can't cut it in medium venues, your band is probably too loud!

If I needed "loud" and it all had to come from my unit, I think I'd go for a pair of Avatar TB153's or one 153 and one straight 15". both 8 ohm. And of course I'd power it with my Crown XLS1000 bridged and run that from some bass pre. In my case it would be my BBE BMAX.
If the pubs are not too big the Fender combos mentioned will probably do the trick.
I play in a rock covers band at pubs, clubs etc. I generally don't go through the PA, neither does the guitarist who uses a JCM800 or a JVM with a 1960A.
Noise restrictions usually around 105 db. I find my GK Fusion 550 and Neo 410 (4 ohm) is only just ticking over at that volume. Plenty in reserve as has the guitarist.

What you have should work.
Somewhere i heard a good rule of thumb is when looking for a head, use 10x the wattage of your guitar player's amp. For example if they are using a 30 watt amp, get a 300 watt head.

I've used a single Peavey DataBass 450 watt/1x15" combo for the last 25 years, almost always not though a PA, and it never let me down (except for a few times when the Black Widow blew...) There were occasional flings with an SVT, (I never much cared for SVTs, sacrilege, I know) Acoustic 360 (love 360s, but moving one is out of the question at age 57) Peavey Mark IV, (I really like those heads) GK 1001RB (meh) and one-night stands with an SWR Super Redhead (HATED it) and a Trace Elliot 500 watt combo (3 sets of pure torture for me).
Logic dictates that a single 15 (I've had a 4 ohm Emminence Kappa 15C in there for the last 5 or so years BTW) doesn't move enough air, but there ya go. It's filled small to medium rooms all by itself competing with a loud guitar player (who never used more than 40 or 50 watt amps but cranked 'em up) and a loud drummer.

I run a very well designed 250w amp and either a Sovtek 4x10 or an EV 2x10 (which cuts my power down to 180w because of ohms) and I've never come close to running out of grunt to fill a room without having PA support.
I have used 1 SWR 2-10 cab and a SWR 350 amp, now a Genz Benz 3.0 for the last 20 years in all kinds of bars with no FOH. No issues except one hard rock gig going against 2 guitars with 4x12 Marshalls. That was way too loud for everyone. Usually, I am only turned up half way.
I use an Avatar 410 cab with the neo speakers and a Hartke Lh1000 powering it. I do not have any trouble filling any room I play without PA support. I have not had to turn my amp up past four at the most.
However, every gig I play without PA support is a basement, living room, or shed show... So, I guess you can take that for what it is worth.
