I've read that the Ibanez ATK's are supposed to be good "slapping" basses...yet no one has mentioned one yet.....are they not as good as the hype?
Nice playing SurrenderMonkey!
That last clip (the Fender J) is a Marcus song right? Which one is it?
Modulus Quantum 4 loaded with Lane Poor Soap bars and an Aguilar OBP-1 with MTD stainless steel strings
again, that's just MY taste..........
Kubicki, Status, Alembic, Wal and Jaydee basses.
Wal? You think?Wal? You think?
Ok, admittedly I'm pretty new to mine (and ceratinly not the world's best slap player either), but I haven't found the slap tones to be anywhere near as good as the "finger style" tones so far, or even particularly juicy in their own right.
What strings and which contol settings do you use, Chris?
Oh, not that I own a Wal myself (I wish!) but I love hearing Jonas Hellborg slapping on his. Not the most hi-fi slap tone, just a big, beefy, gritty, burpy and woody type of tone. Also, in the last few seconds of the fade-out of Rush's "Grand Designs", listen to the two big pops that Geddy does...I love it!
! I thought that we'd chatted on the Wal forum recently, so either that was a different Chris, or it was the Status forum and I'm doubley wrong
