Best smelling cases

Best .... ???

Worst was def. my Am Jazz. Open the case in the house and within minutes everyone was asking "*** is that funky smell?!?!?!" I bought it NEW!

Never did go away either.

defn'ly +1 i swapped my '83 p.bass for a jazz with a friend and in the beginning i was suspecting that his dog ****ted in the case or something strange happened because of the weird smell on the bass, then another friend of mine bought a new one and the same smell came out the case (mine is 2000)

Newer fender molded cases smell like toxic crap. The older ones smell great. That's about the only one that has really jumped to me.

One of my Fender molded cases smells toxic. Kind of a embalming fluid/back room of the natural history museum kind of smell. The bass smells that way until I play it in a smokey bar.

The rest don't jump out as goos or bad.

My Ibanez case smells OK. I agree with Fender being the worst. And trust me, Squier is worse. It smells like sawdust that was pee'd on and then kiln dried. Disgusting.

My Ibanez gig-bag... actually, it's taken on the scent of the cologne I use, cuz I apply that in my room, kind of near my gigbag.

OK, here's a good case smell story. My MTD case had a not-so-pleasant smell to it so I sprinkled in some essential oil of jasmine - one of my favorite odors. I had just had the MTD re-finished by a local luthier with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. After leaving the MTD overnight in its awesome-smelling case I removed it the next morning to find the finish on the back eaten up by the alcohol-based oil.

No need to tell me how stupid I am - I've beaten myself up enough for this. (The luthier fixed it no charge). Moral - Don't spill everclear on your lacquered basses.

Isn't there some sort of rule against this sort of thread?

But then again, when I open the case of my 20th anniversary MM string it has a wonderful scent. But I always thought it was something I should just keep to my self.

Now somebody change the subject to 14 string basses or schroeder cabinets of something...I'm getting uncomfortable.
