Best Squier for a back up bass?

Hey guys. I have an Ibanez Iceman Bass and just got a Blacktop P bass. I really want to get a bass with a maple fretboard, call me silly but they are amazing. Both my current have rosewood. Whats a good Squier that I could get ? Thats not too bad on the wages. I live in Australia so our prices are usually.double. Just want one with good tone that I could gig and stuff that isnt just sitting there to look pretty.. Cheers

How do jazz basses go for rock or pop etc? Or the tone is really for jazz and blues etc?

There's about a bazillion threads on this but I can tell you that you can play a Fender (jazz or precision) IN ANY MUSIC ANYWHERE ANYTIME. If you can play an electric bass in the music then you can play a Fender. Or in this case, a Squier, which is just a cheap Fender (no offense).

If you lean toward PBasses and want a maple neck Squier look at the Matt Freeman which is essentially a CV 60's PBass with a maple neck. They come in Black or Vintage White. Should cost you right around $300 new if you buy off a 15% discount.

If you prefer a JBass then the Squier VM Jazz 77 or VM Jazz both have maple necks and would set you back about $255 with a 15% discount. Not quite as nice as the CV Series but still a good bass at that price.

Good hunting.

Hey m8... nowadays i use my 1st bass as a backup which is a squier vint mod pbass and believe me.. it really does its job.. it has an awsome sound(in my ears) and its pretty cheap as well so you can mod it without any regrets! Plus.. i ve seen some ppl suggesting the affinity one..i am not trying to play it brainy or anything.. but when i tried it in my local store i didnt like it a bit.. but thats just me... you should go to your store and try some basses that have been mentioned here or are cheap.. that way you can decide easier.. =p
Cheers!
