If you're regularly doing reading gigs where people are plunking down a 300 song 3-ring binder or if you're just turning a lot of pages like a show band gig it's worth carrying a folding stand with heavier base like the Manhasset. For the occasional lead sheet or numbers chart or a tune here and there from a fake book (which is all the reading I'll ever do on a gig) this lightweight Link Removed folder has worked a lot better for me than I ever expected it would.
I bought mine several years ago on the way to a rehearsal realizing I'd forgotten my Manhasset. I was just gonna to buy the cheapest spindly wire POS to get me through but Don's right those things are useless and it kinda irked me to throw money away on one. The K&M while very light looked really well built so I spent the extra few bucks and it's turned out to be the perfect gig stand for me. With a lot of weight it waves around a bit so it's not my first choice as a home stand where I'll typically have two or three books on it at any given time. For what it is though it's top notch.
