Best Strings For an Ibanez UB804 Short Scale EUB

howdy
I'm looking for strings to replace the stock d'addario chromes on my Ibanez UB804. they are a little too bright and stiff.
I play lots of slides and bends. I'm thinking maybe Labella tapes or low tension flats.
I'd appreciate advice especially if you've been in this situation.

Tapewounds do have lower tension, but also a sort if stiffness that flats don't have. Go for tapes only if you specifically want the tapewound sound.

For not stiff flats, the 3 options I know of are Thomastik Infeld, Dogal Hellborg flats and Labella low tension. I've not tried Labella.

TI and DH flats are both really good options. Both warmer than chromes in my experience.
If you're the type to want aged flats, that should only come off if they break, I recommend the DH flats. It's a stranded core which gives it a unique loose feel. Even the rounds are more comfortable to play than most flats I've tried.

I really like the GHS flats on my UB805. The lightest gauge set will have a softer hand feel and a more dark/full tone than the chromes which can get chirpy when using the tone control and are a bit “grabby” on the fingers. They are an inexpensive option as well.

Thomastiks were nice but they were a bit loose and it took away from the upright-esque tone of the UB. Tapes were a bit too bright and had a lot of friction on the left hand.
