Hi guys,

I double instruments, and I am getting tired of dragging a couple real books with me to jams. (I am coming from the BG side to the DB side because I figured you all would know better.) For those of you who use tablets for sheet music, what is the best inexpensive option right now?

If you want to go the Apple route, iPad 2 used or refurbished are pretty cheap and there are more app choices available.

I brought the Hannspree to the Jam ,and found using a big pdf to be onerous, I'll have to split it up, and label the songs. It should be faster. I'll lokk into FakeBook for indexing charts.

Use fakeBook to "import from internet" before you try anything more complicated. it is very useful.

+1 to that. The links to download and split PDF books are incredible useful. I even contacted the Fakebook app developer for help with indexing a book of mine (an old scanned songbook) and got great support. Nice when stuff actually works!

Another great way i've found to read sheet music on an iPad is using an app called Chromatik. It's free and has full parts with melody, lyrics, and chords for a bunch of different styles. There's a pretty big library, and you can upload your own custom PDFs. I've found it pretty useful for gigs and practicing. Check out the web version here: https://www.chromatik.com

Ask the lighting guy for a little piece of blackwrap and make a hood.

With the Fakebook app I sometimes use the "invert screen" option. Quite useful to reduce stray light at theater stages etc.
