Best way to go about selling a 4x10 cab?

Hi guys. I've been moving around some gear bass, guitar, and recording related.

I bought some new stuff and I replaced all my old gear, acquired some new gear and ended up with a pretty nice 4x10 cab sitting here that's basically just taking up space.

What sucks is that I don't have the original shipping box.

I expect very little results from the local Craigslist, though you never know.

One option I have, since I'm looking to pick up a 4x12 cab for guitar, is that I could take it do Guitar Center and trade it in on new gear but I would then have to deal with Guitar Center. I prefer to buy from a specific online dealer.

The great thing is that I'm not in a rush so I have time on my side.

What would you guys do?

Craigslist, I have had good luck both buying and selling. Sure, you are going to get some insulting low-ball offers, but if you have the time to wait for the right offer, it will come. The quality gear on CL doesn't last long and you will get more than the vultures at GC will offer for a trade-in.

I suspect you are trying to get around buying some TB membership, since the next question is what city you are in where you might want to get said box, nationwide box vending chains being non existent or obvious. Naturally this would lead to buyer enquiries.

A small refrigerator box can be padded out inside with multiple corners of many other boxes plus some extra cardboard to give a single drop proof package.

I have had good luck taking cabs and combos to my UPS Store and having them pack it up. They have boxes that can be cut to the right dimensions, and will pack the cab expertly.

Cost is about $25-30 for box and materials.

It isn't cheap to box up and ship a 410, but you will likely make more $ by doing that than taking it to GC or going through Craigslist.

This is great news. I guess they are able to create some "corners" to hold the cab in place and protect it during shipping?
