Best way to hook this rig up (Preamp, Crossover, Amp, Speakers)?

Please help me someone! As I am a newbie to the live sound amp thing.

I am trying to figure out the best way to hook this rig up.
I have a BMax Preamp, DBX 223s crossover, an EP 4000 amp, a 2X10 cab and a 1X15 cab.

Can (or should I) run a Y cable from the preamp main out (1 TRS unbalanced output jack) into channels 1 & 2 of the crossover to get a stereo input? Then, output from crossover to channels 1 & 2 of EP400 amp. (If yes, which y cable would I use? 1/4" Male TRS to Dual male TRS, TRS to dual male TS, or TS to Dual male TS).
I was thinking this way would give me more control over the full signal in the crossover realm.

Or, should I just run the Preamp main out into the crossover in Mono Mode?

I'm just not sure which would give me the best results of a good sounding sensible setup.

Any suggestions on this 'cause I'm going crazy over here....

You can't get stereo with only 1 power amp and only 1 of each cabinet.

Preamp mono to x-over. Low freq signal to 1 side of power amp, high freq signal to other side of power amp. 1-15 cab gets fed from the low freq side of the amp, the 2-10 gets fed from the high side.

Ah.... This is what I needed to know. Thanks much for the info. Haven't yet decided at what frequency to cross at. I've heard around 100hz. I haven't completely set rig up so I've not been able to mess with it yet (my equipment is at the rehearsal site) I'll get to it this Wednesday. Any suggestions on x-over points?

A lot depends on the cabs but 100 hz is a good starting point.

a crossover just means that one of those two full-range bass cabs will have no lows, and the other will have no highs, so your overall sound will be weaker.

now if you had say, an 18 or a 2x15 cab and a small sealed 2x10 or single 12 (i.e., a big sub cab and a little highs cab), a crossover might make some sense. cross something like that at 100Hz, and it could sound reasonably good. (not as good as two full-range 4x10 cabs, but there you go.)
