Best way to keep a cat from going in your ported cabinets?

I experienced this long ago with an SWR Big Ben (1x18). My cats would go inside and hang out. One day, I quietly, stealthily, plugged in my bass. Their little tails hanging out of the ports stiffened when the amp "popped" on, and i hit a low B. Not too loud, but it got their attention. They never ever went into the port again, and for weeks afterward they would flee the room whenever I took the bass out of its case.

All my cabs have slip over covers and that could work well here I'd think. If you have a unique design cab without a cover the folks at Studio Slips or Tuki will custom make you anything you ask for. You could also just back your cab up to a wall or if you have two cabs place them back to back when you're not playing.

Assuming you don't practice at revenge on the neighbours levels you could just back your cab up to a wall. Skirting board will ensure enough breathing space to avoid damaging the speaker. While also not leaving enough space for the cat to get in .

I would put a wolverine in the cabinet to discourage any cats from hanging out there.
Just buy some fairly stiff screen and bend to form a grate which can be inserted in the port. I use this this approach with my bathroom vents to keep birds from nesting.

I can personally recommend LeCover as another alternative. A few years ago, a friend who was downsizing gave me his Crate BX-100 bass combo amp. I sent careful measurements to LeCover and they fabricated a custom studio slip cover for that amp. They even surprised me by adding the Crate logo and amp model sewn onto the top left corner on the front of the slip cover. I cannot recall the price, but it was very reasonable.
Of course, if your cat insists on crawling inside while you are playing, the slip cover won't be an all-purpose solution.
Can you affix a metal grate over it? I imagine the port works fine as long as airflow isn't impeded
