best wireless for the money?

I really like my X2, but there were 2 issues involving the construction (not the technology).

My main issue was with the connection between the cable and the transmitter. The standard cable is really flimsy - which is why even X2 was selling upgraded cables and there has been a good market for hand made X2 replacement cables. If you get an X2, go straight for a replacement cable.

My second issue was that the transmitter clip is crap. My transmitter kept falling off my strap and this ended up pulling on the connection to the point where the connection became dodgy and I had to replace the unit (it was easier than getting it fixed). The cure for this is the pouch sold on MF for about $11.99 - it holds the transmitter on your strap without a problem.

So, the X2 is great if you get a better cable and the pouch.

seems like I'm pretty hooked at the g30 from line6 - it would fit my pedal board just fine - anyone has a review or something from this ? it seems the g50 is too expensive and only offers a longer range and a small screen on the transmitter - is this correct ?

G50 has over the G30:

More channels
More Range
More 'cable tone' settings
A tuner pass-thru (guessing a second output)
An estimated time left on the batteries on the transmitter

But if my knowledge of the internals of both the XDS and XDR X2 wirless gives an indication to the internals of the G30 and G50, they will be the nearly same inside except for a slightly more powerful 'brain' chip for the G50 to handle the LCD duties, a few extra resistors to select a slightly higher RF output level for the G50, and the antennas on the G50 receiver.

to be honest I don't give much for the "cable tone" setting - I could just fix that with the EQ if that even would be a problem. as for the longer range - I have a pedal board to step on some times - I think it would be best if I was within 100 feet of the stage :P
for the battery part I'd always change the battery anyways before each gig - and use the used batteries at rehearsal

so for me personally I don't see any benefits worth the 160$ ( roughly) extra

Was just listing differences kinda per your request :)

If you don't need anything there then definitely don't spend the extra because the side of the circuit that handles the audio in the X2's are identical, stands to reason that the G's will follow that pattern, so you'll lose nothing where it counts.

Plus the G30 has one BIG check in its column... Its available now (in the US at least) and the G50 has slipped to early May now I believe.

Edit: I posted AAA meaning AA on my post, duh.

My main issue with the XDS was not the technology but with the reported flimsy 1/8 cord and ESPECIALLY the 9volt battery suck...I play 4 and 5 sets most nights and changing batteries is not my thing. 100 ft range of the G30 would be more than enough 80% of the time but some of the venues I play require the Spinal Tap weaving to get to the dance floors or back of front of house jam with guitarist which we do when called for which I'd feel more secure doing with the G50 or maybe I always justify over doing it...yeah, that's more probable!

Get the speakon 1/8 cable and li-ion rechargeables. I can get 4 hours of playing on one battery.

I had the chance to use the Line6 G50 this morning at an outdoor gig. Man, I loved it!
Background: The stage size-24x16 was out in a parking lot, I walked out to FOH board which was only about 40-50' away and it performed flawlessly (it better at that range). HUGE difference from my Sennheiser Ew100 G2. I could have been just as happy with the G30 but I just had to have the G50 (you know how it goes). Tone was KILLER-all my low end and highs, no delay, no interference, sturdy, compact and EASY to use! Hell, I can't find anything wrong with it. I did a lot of reading reviews on the Relay AND X2/XDS series' and the Relay won out hands down (for me). I'm very pleased with it, well worth the money IMO. I missed being cord-free and I'm stoked over the G50!
Line 6 delivered on this one!!!

Where did you get your g50 from?

GC La Mesa, CA. I rarely go in there anymore but I went last week looking for something else and happened to ask if they heard any news about a due date for the G50. I knew the 30's were out but I've been holding out for the 50. I wasn't expecting anything, I was just curious. He told me he had one in stock. I was shocked! Of course I grabbed it. I've been wanting to get back to wireless but couldn't accept the tone suck anymore.
Anyway, I only gigged with it today for two sets but I totally dig it. I don't have the audiofile super hearing many here on TB have but I know it sure beats the hell out of the analog system I was using previous...and THAT was good at the time I bought it! It's everything they say it is.
If you're into wireless, do yourself a favour and try it out. One thing about GC, you can always return it :D
Sorry for the novel...to answer your question in short..

That's the wireless system that I use and I have no issues with it.

I love it. It is clearer than most high end instrument cables that I've used. I have no issues with latency but I'm sure it's possible in some instances especially if the user goes out of it's range. It's even clean and overall even when I use it with my pedal board.

I've used wireless systems that cost three times as much as the Brace system and not even come close in clarity.

And to keep from spending money constantly on batteries just get an adapter.

that seems like a realy good deal... have you had any issues at all?

500 or 700?

Got a perfectly good 172 C-Band that is about to be branded "an outlaw".
Some beaches.
