Let me start by saying that I have a small business building custom pedals and doing mod work for local musicians. I don't do this for a living, but more for the enjoyment of it. So my overhead is non-existant. I don't carry alot of component stock on hand, so I do alot of job-specific ordering of parts online. I try not to order from several differant vendors at one time, so I can keep customer costs to a minimum. If I can find a vendor that carries everything I need to complete the customers project, I'll usually do that. Although that's not always the case, but with rising shipping costs, I try to keep my customers costs as low as I possibly can.
I've used Small Bear Electronics off and on in the past with no problems at all, and always with great communication. I haven't ordered from them in probably about a year or so, until Feb. 6. A customer comes in wanting some mods done to his Boss SD-1. The mod didn't require any special or unique components, so I couldn't justify the higher shipping cost of my usual vendor, and I thought, well, I'll go through Small Bear. They were always fast and somewhat reasonable on shipping, so on Monday,Feb. 6th I place the order. I immediately get an e-mail from them and Paypal with my order confirmation number. So I tell the customer that the parts have been ordered, and that his pedal should be done by the 15th. On the Wednesday, Feb 8th I recieve an e-mail from Small Bear stating that my package had been shipped through USPS.
It is now Wednesday, Feb. 22nd.....No Parts, No Refund, Lost Customer, and NO COMMUNICATION FROM SMALL BEAR!! I've sent them numerous E-mails with no response what so ever!!! I had to file a Dispute through Paypal today just so I can get my money back. How can a company run its business that way?
