Double Bass BG-300 Super Flight Case

It seems like a number of this model amp come up for sale. I was considering one, but would like to know more about the pros and cons. Is it possible to add an extension cabinet to it? I've done this in the past with the Acoustic Image 10x2. I'm looking for a small combo, but need more volume for a loud, five-piece swing band.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm one of the people who love this amp to death, and have been using it almost exclusively for years. For soundfiles, check my website under "Nachbar Chronicles". That's a pretty loud gig, and the BG-300 has plenty of juice for it. I also is it in an indie fun/folk/soul/jazz/rock group which gets *really* loud at times, and it holds up fine there, too (although not with much to spare - see here for details).

My only caveat about this amp is that is has a lot of bottom end, so I always use an fdeck HPF with it. Other than that, I love it.

No, you cannot add an extension cabinet. No speaker out jack. However, there is a line out to connect to a powered cabinet, such as the PJB PB-300 or QSC K series cabs.

Pros (IME): The best-sounding combo for upright that I have had direct experience with, when combined with an fdeck HPF-Pre. Relatively light, easy transport. High-quality construction and components.

Cons: Can't connect an unpowered extension cab, and perhaps lacks enough volume for louder applications.

Bumping this thread to show my appreciation for the Bg-300 super flight case. I haven’t been bringing this amp out for a while, but decided to play it on a couple recent gigs (jazz trio, guitar+vocal w bass). This amp sounds freaking great! Great detail and a good firm low end, nice mids. Has anyone tried the newer PjB offerings??
The size/ watt ratio in newer amps seems to have been improved on, but man was I pleased to bring this out.

I haven’t tried the new ones, but the old style Suitcase has risen to #1 in my amp fleet - it’s just heavy and awkward to move with the double handles. Has anyone installed casters on theirs to any degree of success?
