Informative, but also confusing. It does not seem that the Contours are passive, since they can boost at certain frequencies. So the last sentence is confusing, or in all probability just wrong.Translating from the manual I get this:
SHAPE S1 / S2: with the selector set to ON, 400Hz (S1) and 1000Hz (S2) are attenuated by about 8dB, emphasizing the extremes of the band. To not take advantage of these passive filters, set the selector to OFF.
CONTOUR LO / HI: with the selector on Boost, 40Hz by + 3dB (LO) and 8kHz by + 6dB (HI) are emphasized. With the selector on Cut, the 40Hz by -3dB (LO) and the 8kHz by -6dB (HI) are attenuated. To not take advantage of these passive filters, set the selector to OFF.
i agree. i feel the same about aguliar faceplates. That faceplate could use some input from a UI designer, but interesting. I wish them well.
If I had to guess, it’ll change how the amp behaves. Similar to the Mesa WD-800 with its Damping control ie “Low” is more tube amp feel and “High” is more solid state feel. I could be wrong, but just my highly uneducated guess.Interesting. There's a sample of how the 3 "amp voice" sound on the product page, but I'd like to hear it for real, and/or read more detailed explanations, and/or read feedback from customers. They say you can use it to adapt the amp to your cabs, and that it changes the tone, I find it a bit confusing.
I'd like to hear it for real
