bi-amp question

can i power a cabinet with a horn or tweeter or some kind of HF driver through a head without a bi-amp design? or will a head with out it just power the LF drivers?

also if i connect two 8 ohm cabs to a head will that present a 4 ohm impedance to the amps output or will it power both at 8 ohms?

If the cab was built by the manufacturer with both drivers installed then there is an almost 100% likelihood that it already has a passive crossover in there to seperate the frequency bands to the individual drivers. Some types of cabs, eg some old Peaveys and PA style cabs can be either passive or have biamp inputs that bypass the internal xover.
If in doubt, check with the manufacturer.

Two 8R speakers in parallel present a 4R load to the amplifier.

most heads have two outputs and you just send one to each cab in my understanding... wont both just be in 8 ohms
The outputs from most heads are simply two parallel wired sockets, bit like an internal Y cable adaptor. Run one to each cab. It's that simple.

Two 8R speakers connected to an amp in parallel will present the amp with a 4R load.

Wire each driver directly to a jack on the back of the cabinet.

That’s not b-amping unless the head has dual amplifiers. Connecting an amplifier directly to the tweeter is sure to blow it out. You’ll need an electronic crossover to replace the passive crossover if you bypass it.
