Bi-flex TR in Squier VM Jazz? Adjustment question.

I just picked up my first bass, a lightly used Squier VM Jazz. The action was a bit high so I've taken some of the relief out and dropped the saddles. Much better.

Question about the truss rod though, Does this guitar have a Fender type Bi-Flex TR or a standard type. It takes a 5mm hex at the nut end and with the strings slacked it feels like the adjuster is bottoming out at about where I want it.

I don't know if it's running out of threads or bottoming out on wood. Can the adjustment hex bolt be backed out completely so I can get a look?

Really, at this point, the nut could use cutting to drop the strings and that would take care of it. Fretted at the first and 12th fret I have a little relief mid way so the neck isn't pulled straight and probably doesn't need to be pulled back any more.

More than anything, I'm just curious about the workings of this TR.

Squiers have a regular ol' truss rod, nothin fancy.

I had one same problems. I worked on the nut and had it playing like a champ.

Just a plain old standard truss rod. If you run out of threads you remove the nut and insert a washer or two

The nut is always bottomed out on the wood of the neck , that's how they work.
