I have this Genz Benz Uber 410 I LOVE tonally, but I haven’t used it in a band context since February. It’s a ripper...full, meaty, clear, but not sterile. And it’s in fantastic shape. It doesn’t have casters, but it does have a couple of handy integrated rollers for tilting and maneuvering. They are not designed for a lot of rolling...more for around a stage. Given that it’s a 410 and I’m 6’2”, I have to hunker down a bit to do so. To straight pick it up, it’s 70 lbs.

I’ve got a 40 lb 210 I use at church, and a nice 100 watt combo, so for smaller stuff, I think I’m covered. I’ve kept my wife’s old minivan as a personal knock-around vehicle and with bass gear in mind.

All this considered, and with Covid making big cabs even more economical, is anything comparable to my Genz? If, hopefully in the future, I use a big boy for a loud/outdoor gig, it must have a towel bar or comparable tilt-n-roll apparatus. Weight is not a primary concern if I can just back it up to the van and slide it in.

I haven’t seen a Berg 610/412 in my area, even with Nashville just 2 hours away. Ampeg fridges are everywhere, some with more realistic prices than others. My HandBox would be a likely pairing. 400 watts @ 4 ohms, very tubey.

The voice in the back of my head: if I’ve got something that sounds fantastic, why risk a swap even if what I have is more cumbersome?

810, 610, 412, and 215’s are all on the table for a potential swap, i.e. something tall enough to tilt and roll easily, plus (presumably) added dB’s.

  3. I’m about 6’2” and I found that the 8x10 is more comfortable to tilt back and push around than the 6x10. When I tilt back a 6x10 the bar ends up closer to my waist where an 8x10 puts the bar closer to my chest.

I don’t know if the Aguilar DB 810 has a similar full meaty sound compared to your Genz, but it tilts back and rolls easier than I imagined, even though it is very Heavy. Btw, I love the hat with a P bass pick up- that’s just too cool.

This is objective. Loud is better than quiet!
No law against more than 1 fridge.

A few months ago, I saw a cosmetically-challenged NV610 down in Mississippi. But that’s about it for Big Bergs so far in my 4-5 hour vicinity.

    I forgot about Aggies.
The hat was a custom-ordered birthday gift from my wife. She has a knack for awesome.

    On the topic....

I contacted a seller yesterday regarding a SWR Henry 8x8 cab (heavier but towel bar/larger casters) and a possible trade a couple of hours away, but then immediately withdrew the offer with my apologies. With Covid surging, it’s not a great time even while masked to be trying stuff out around unfamiliar people when it’s not a necessity.

But taking Covid out of the equation, no matter the TB talk and rarity of a Henry, I felt like I would ultimately regret letting go of the Uber for it.

My guts made the call over my curiosity, and my guts seem really attached to the Uber even though 410’s seem out of favor.

The amount of 6x10’s and 8x10’s that I’ve seen for sale lately on Craigslist has been staggering. I’m also shocked for how low people are basically giving them away for.

As I understand from others’ reports, it’s like artillery, throwing the sound over the band but killing medium-sized mammals a few rows back.

Unless they are Chinese-made or look like they’ve been dipped in acid, the sellers in my vicinity still seem rather proud of their fridges.

And why does the Fender PN610 stand out above the other behemoths?

    Lightweight, looks great, sounds great.

But above all, it's much lighter.

There was an 810 version of the Uber with the bar and wheels, you might look around for one.

the 410 was much more popular, but they are out there.

    REALLY!?!?!
I just thought this morning how awesome a fridge Uber would be.
Andy, thank you for chiming in.
I am now on a quest.
