Mike is at it again! 2x8 Bodai:

When I visited Mike's place this summer, I liked the MAS 18 a lot and the bass with two stacked (the depth, amount available, and control) was ridiculous, but I liked the pristine, 3D mids of the Bodai 110 better. Mike mentioned then that he was thinking of doing a Bodai-format cab with two of the 8" woofers, but I had no idea that he'd move on it this soon (he and/or the Big E guys might have been further along in talks/prototyping than I realized, though).
Now that I think about it, the idea of a cab with two 8-inch speakers and vortex-loaded mids is something that came up in conversation a few years ago. I don't think it was practical at the time, for whatever reason -- and, had he attempted it then, it might not have been executed with the same degree of refinement which, from hearing the Bodai 110, I presume this one is -- but the wheels are always turning, it seems -- even more going on under the surface than in the rapidly evolving forefront.
I've played a bunch of cabs that I've liked, and am gaining a broader appreciation lately for what different gear (from different eras, different approaches) brings to the table -- and everyone will have their own preferences regarding voicing, etc. -- but, in a live setting, I've still never played anything that does quite what Mike's cabs do.
Do you know if these are the same 8" woofer he's using in the new 18 cab?
I think so, but I'm extrapolating from the conversation above. You would have to ask Mike to be sure.
