big muff blowing!

I bought it new and had a gig the day after.No problems.3 weeks later I had another gig and I almost blew the PA.the sound guy yelled at me "*** are you doing?" When I open it or close it it blows away and makes everyone jump from their seat.

I have to shut the volume on it to active it but while playing I can't do it,If I open it it blows again.Its like BOOOOM!
And there is also a strange hum,its not hum indeed its a coming and going sound and really weird.

I bought it from one of the most trusted stores in Turkey and they said it could happen to muffs.How can I fix the problem?

I didn't understand a word you said about that Muff, probably because of the language barrier.

You're running your bass through the PA and getting some sort of popping every time you step on the switch? This can happen. And at the volume PA's are running, you can probably get a crowd to jump.

Are you using a power adapter? Running on batteries? What kind of bass? Are you using any other effects? What kind of Muff? USA? Sovtek?

Sorry about the language,I couldn't get it together it seems.

Its a Sovtek,I run it with batteries,I have 2 basses both are active.
It doesn't matter if I go directly into PA or into my amp at home.

You know what happens if you unplug your bass when you are connected to PA or amp,it blows and makes people jump.Its the same thing when I push the power switch.
But if I turn down the volume of the muff before switching on,it does not do it.But I have to do it in the songs.How can I fix it?

Maybe it's a loose wire. Could you return it and see if you can try out another muff and see if you have the same problem?

I'd be taking it back and demanding a new one.

Sounds like there's a loose connection in there somewhere. Take it back to the shop.

So its not common with the muffs.The shop can't do anything as they don't hold muffs now.I got to keep this and wonder to whom I can take it to fix.

Or own dozens like me without a problem...

Electro-Harmonix has had rough patches, but have always been good about fixing them.

I've never had a pedal that does a better Muff, than a Muff.

+1 to that!

Their new Nano series (full of new pedals and reissues of old big ones) is top-notch so far, and far sturdier than their pedals have ever been.

Even then, their old stuff that I've had the pleasure of trying out seems durable enough to me.
