Hey guys glad to be posting here! (I'm a regular member of The Gear Page and Gearslutz, but I lurk here quite often.)
Anyhow, I've recently started kind of a fun experimental/electronic music project based on drums and bass. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a type of fuzz. I'm going for a really bottom heavy fuzz, kind of like one you could make with a JUNO synth. I'm thinking it's almost some type of square wave sound. I don't really need the filter effect, just the fat low fuzz. I had a EHX Bass Microsynth that just about hit the spot (with the filter section bypassed), except the notes tapered off very odd. It's almost like the sound reaches a cut off point and stops, instead of decaying off naturally (hope that made sense). Would a Shin Ei Companion fuzz do that trick? My WF Rat and Muff's just aren't cutting it.
There's a really good example of what I'm going for in Logic Pro. It's one of the stock synth sounds called "Chill Out Bass". I've been getting this sound primarily via synth lately, but there are some dynamics I'd like to achieve using and electric bass that the synth just can't do.
