Thanks JMX- the site's a little hard to follow, but it looks like a cool hub. Would that require a particular kind of frame? It appears they have a high quality chain as well.

I remember when Mountain Bike Action did a review of the Rolhoff hub.

They said the exact same thing "too heavy".

Are you talking about a road bike? How much are you looking to spend?

rode for years and a half, then turned to marathon. now it seems the energy or enthusiasm is gone. i try to sell the bike a month ago, a lot of people interested but no deal yet. guess i have to keep her.

Racebike as in bike to use on the road yes, not in the field or in the mountains..

Budget: I was thinking about max 500 Euros for something used.

Well if they want to break Shimano XTR's grip on the market they have to win XC races. XC races are won in the climbs. Weight slows down climbing.

I have a pretty general issue MTB, a Tunturi Scambo if that says anything, that's been in use now and then over the past few years..

I actually just dropped it to the shop today to be fixed up for daily use - it's going to get full service with a new chain and rear pack, plus a couple of extras: new Continental semi-slicks for asphalt, a new saddle and new pedals.

I should have it back within a week or so, just in time before university starts again. The uni is about 3 miles from our current apartment, so it's at perfect bicycle distance - the city takes pride in offering quality bicycling network for daily commuting, too, so it's an excellent investment to have a proper bicycle around
