2005 Giant AC to come, just need to find a camera. Just wanted to reserve a spot :smug:

Well, I couldn't find a camera, so I googled for pics, and found some similar pics.

This is exactly the same as my Monty, but my frame is yellow, and I have the step up of those maguras

This is also Also almost identicle, except for the fact that my rear brake is an Avid Juicy 5, since the Hayes broke. (Hayes are overated, IMO)

I also got rid of that goofy pant-protecter......on a log, saved me work later. :)

Has anyone tried a Dynamic bicycle? They're one of the ones with the drive shaft instead of a chain system and apparently they are at a lot of LL Bean stores to try out.

I used to ride my bike everywhere, but I hate chain and derailleur systems (not to mention that I am no good at changing them because all of the parts are small making them impossible for me to see).

What do you hate about the system, other than the small parts?

The only other drive train I've personally seen is on the GT iT1.

I bike; I'll get a pic when I get back from cali (in 10 days) but...its just some cheap $200 bike. This summer though, I've been doing 7 miles to get to work/school, and more often than not like 15-20 miles just because me and my friends go.

Man, when I get my liscense I don't know how much biking I'll actually do...lazy me.

The grease, having my courdoroys catch and tearing straight up my leg, and that the chains rust pretty quick when riding in snow/rain. The drive shaft stuff requires very little maintenance (other than adding grease once a year) and for someone who rides just for leasiurly transport, the downsides (2-5lbs more weight and possibly less efficient) are not worries.

I think a shaft drive bike would be fine as a commuter bike. A lot of the problems you've described about chain driven bikes have very simple solutions.

I have an old Trek 5000, with Campy Centaur group. I'm the captain of Lackland AFB's cycling team, and most recently rode at RAGBRAI this summer.

Will post pics later...

I ride and race on board a Titus Racer-X they arent exactly common here in Australia. I did do a lot of Endurance Racing until late April this year after a spate of bad training rides saw me hit by cars twice in one week. Had decent success though nothing to brag about.

Interestingly enough, I am moving next weekend- to just down the road the YouYangs State Forest which is home to a big MTB facility. So riding will be more frequent. Also looking at flying to Sydney in a few weeks to do a 12 hour solo, then home to Melbourne to do another 12hr solo the following weekend. ;)

Also looking at getting a Titus Eleven and building that up as Lightweight Hardtail, for the Shorter XC races... Ohhh I have a road bike too- but thats of little interest to me
